Crocheting For Gold

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics have drawn to a close, and there have been so many memorable moments but for us it was discovering Tom Daley's knitting and crochet account.

The British diver is a 5 time European champion, 4 time Commonwealth champion and after four Olympics, he's won Olympic gold in the men's synchronised 10 metre platform event with his partner Matty Lee. But his talents extend far beyond the world of diving. During lockdown Daley picked up knitting and crochet and raffled a handmade jumper to raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity. It was a huge success and the campaign raised £5,787 in 14 days.

My dad died in 2011 from a Brain Tumour and since then I have been trying to raise as much money as possible for the Brain Tumour Charity to help towards research for a cure and treatments! It is the biggest cancer killer of under 40s and we have so much more to learn!"

Most recently Tom posted a video on his knitting and crochet account, @MadeWithLoveByTomDaley, of a pouch he'd made to keep his gold medal safe from scratches with the union jack on one side and the Japanese flag on the other.

Tom Daley, you are iconic and we can't wait to see your future crocheted and knitted creations!
